Concert review of Ambrosia's concert at Humphrey's

in San Diego, CA  on September 30, 1998/by Nicole Pouliot

Nicole Pouliot is a great Ambrosia Fan from da hood! Torrance California!
Nicole is a true fan of David Pack, & AMBROSIA!

Hello, fellow Ambrosians!!
I just wanted to share with you all the fabulous show I enjoyed  at Humphrey's-on-the-bay,Shelter Island, in beautiful San Diego, CA.
Humphrey's is a very nice venue to see a concert.  Moderate enough in capacity to
guarantee a decent seat for all, and I was lucky enough to have a very good seat.

It was a beautiful, warm night to see a triple bill of Stephen Bishop, Christopher Cross,
and our heros, Ambrosia-- playing under the stars, and the backdrop of the bay, with   all the"boat people" watching made it especially memorable!

Stephen Bishop was up first, and performed a nice half-hour set, a mix of mostly hits,

with a couple of new tunes thrown in.  AND THEN AMBROSIA HIT THE STAGE!!!!!

It was obvious to me that a majority of the people in attendance were, like me, there to see our boys!! The guys were in high spirits, and their enthusiasum took the audience by storm!!
Honestly, it was INFECTIOUS!!  I could over hear some in the audience around me
remarking things like, "I LOVE this song!! I didn't know that was Ambrosia!!......"  So
the guys had all the fans, ( and all the people who wre already fans, but didn't know it ) ROCKIN' OUT to some of their big hits,  "Nice, Nice, Very Nice",   "Time Waits For No One", etc.,but it was the ballads that got by far the biggest responses--

"You're The Only Woman", "How Much I Feel", and the best-received
song of the evening, the one David Pack dedicated to all the happily married couples,

like himself,  "Biggest Part Of Me".

I wish I had photos to share with all of you, but cameras were NOT allowed, and all bags
were searched at the door.  After the show, I waited for the crowds to thin at the merchandise tables, so I could get a decent peek at the goods.

I was making my purchase when David Pack walked up to talk to one
of the guys at the table----my opportunity!!!    I got his attention, and said, "Hi, David!!  I grew up in Torrance (CA) ,and when I was in High School, we considered Ambrosia "our band" because the rumor was that you guys were from San Pedro (part of our home turf), is that true??"

David said,  "I grew up in Torrance!!  I went to Torrance High!!"
I said, "I went to Narbonne!! (High School).   "NO WAY!!, he
said,"so did our bass player, Joe---hey, Joe!! Come over here!! This girl's from Narbonne!!"

With that, Joe came running over, and with a BIG grin on his face said,
"Go GAUCHO'S!! ( Narbonne's school's team name).  We all talked for several minutes
about our hometown, reminising about those truly exciting, golden
years.  GOD HOW I WISHED I WOULDA HAD A CAMERA!!!!

David  and Joe signed my CD, and David wrote, "To our HOMEGIRL Nicole......."
RIGHT ON!!     A PERFECT ending to a perfectly WONDERFUL evening.

Thank you,  Joe Puerta, Burleigh Drummond, Christopher North, Shem Schneck,
Tollack Olltsead, and ESPECIALLY  to you, DAVID PACK (sigh..........) !!     Y'all write to me, okay??

Also, any TODD RUNDGREN fans out there??????    Nicole P.
